Intel (INTC): Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference (20250908)

"I think in general, the way I would think about it is fixing our core x86 business probably gives us the opportunity to have a consistent growth business in that 3% to 5% range. I think Pat’s aspirations are higher than that. I think to achieve those aspirations, we really have to have a bigger footprint in AI."

Their transcription is incorrect. It is not Pat's but Lip-Bu's. But anyways, the idea on AI is essentially the same as I previously stated:

"Those are all pretty critical areas. Now, having said that, I’ll remind you that longer term, it’s probably a good, healthy model for a semiconductor company to be running about 20% to 25% of their revenue as the percent of OpEx. Against sell-side street numbers next year, $16 billion doesn’t get us there.
It’s the right number for us to target for next year relative to the investments we need to make. We need to do better over time, either through revenue growth or more efficiency gains."

If Intel's operating expenses (OpEx) were to reach $20 billion in the long term, it would need $80–$100 billion in revenue to support them.

Isnt everyones AI strategy just to talk it up?

Is any deliverable required other than increased valuations?
Given that Lip-Bu has invested in several AI chip startups, such as:
An acquisition could be possible.

Aside from that, Jaguar Shores should be launched asap to address various training, fine-tuning, and inference workloads (mixed AI workloads).

I am sure there will be concerns about conflict of interest. Wonder how big a factor for LBT the concern is to pull the trigger of M&A.

Heard SambaNova is struggling though

At the very least, I can attest to the fact that Intel will clarify its AI roadmap next time.
I've heard something about it...
