SAN FRANCISCO, July 31 (Reuters) - Three senior executives in Intel's manufacturing operations are set to retire, Intel told Reuters on Thursday, as new CEO Lip-Bu Tan implements sweeping change to resuscitate the struggling U.S. chipmaker.

Intel told staff on Tuesday that corporate vice presidents in the technology development group, Kaizad Mistry and Ryan Russell, would retire, as would Gary Patton, corporate vice president at its Design Technology Platform organization and a former IBM executive.

I know Gary, shocked he stayed as long as he did. He definitely had a window seat. He is past retirement age. Kaizad Mistry, career Intel, also of retirement age. Ryan Russell, career Intel, VP of Logic Development, maybe he took the fall for Intel 18A, Intel 20, Intel 3, Intel 4, Intel 7, etc.....

I would list these as expected "Retirements" .... shaking up the expected areas. I still remember referencing Kaizad's papers decades ago when I was doing transistor modeling.... He had incredible contributions to Device Tech.

Side note: IMO, the issue isnt just "Management". Engineers, group leaders, and department heads have Intel Culture burned into them. This is why culture takes years to change at a company.... if it ever changes

So is the shake up the first part of that change ?
