    Synopsys Completes Acquisition of Ansys

EDA continues to get smaller. Synopsys, Cadence, and Siemens EDA: Three big dogs eating out of one bowl, not a pretty sight. (Joe Costello). Thankfully there were quite a few EDA start-ups at DAC this year leveraging AI but they are no match for the EDA Oligarchy. Expect another strong AI...

Huawei, the leader in Chinese semiconductor development… ‘Life or death’ for SMIC 5nm mass production next year

I agree with Jensen on this one. Depriving China of US chips only makes Huawei and SMIC stronger. We can sell N-1 or N-2 GPUs and fend them off globally. Whoever controls the chips controls the world!

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang says 'we don't have to worry' about the Chinese military using US chips to improve their capabilities because 'they simply can

Have you tried ChatGPT and DeepSeek side by side? I have been using ChatGPT for the past 2+ years and it is improving dramatically. Not just speed but also quality of content. I don't think Nvidia is worried much about chip competitors.

Intel Nova Lake-S uses TSMC N2 process Tape-Out

Yes, with chiplets. Big monolithic designs 2-3 years. Apple does SoCs every year but they are generally incremental rather than a complete redesign.

    Semiconductor Fundamentals Are All Weak

I remember when it was $500B (thanks to Andy Grove the best Intel CEO ever) and that was back when $500B was a lot of money. :ROFLMAO:

Intel Nova Lake-S uses TSMC N2 process Tape-Out

Both. Intel is using N2 for high performance tiles. They will also use 18P and N3. That is the bonus of using chiplets (tiles). https://semiwiki.com/wikis/industry-wikis/intel-18ap-process-technology-wiki/

    Semiconductor Fundamentals Are All Weak

Supply is not a problem as legacy fabs are running at 70-80% capacity. TSMC leading edge fabs are closer to 100%. The big offset is unit sales and ASP. AI chips are ridiculously priced so while the semiconductor industry will certainly hot $1T in the coming years the unit count will be much...
