Global Semiconductor Market Size Worth USD 1.2 Trillion by 2034

Based on TSMC's growth my prediction was $1T in 2030, so close enough. The semiconductor industry was just over $20B when I started in 1984. Amazing!

Global Pure-Play Semiconductor Foundry Revenues to Grow 17% YoY in 2025, Driven by AI, High-Performance Computing Chips

The takeaway for me is that since TSMC owns the 3nm and 2nm nodes (90%+ market share) all they have to do is track TSMC revenue. TSMC will grow 30%+ this year and next so that is the number to watch.

Nvidia-backed Enfabrica releases system aimed at easing memory costs

Which is exactly why I started SemiWiki. I had never guessed that it would be this bad though. Hopefully AI will replace them soon. I have friends at Efabrica. I showed them the article and they mentioned that Samsung is an investor! They have silicon so I expect them to be acquired...

Nvidia-backed Enfabrica releases system aimed at easing memory costs

"Those HBM chips are supplied by makers such as SK Hynix and Micron Technology." Funny that they did not mention Samsung

Samsung to Produce Tesla Chips in $16.5 Billion Multiyear Deal

The Samsung 2nm PDK was a mess so this was not a PDK based decision. Tesla worked with both TSMC and Samsung on previous designs. I really think this is a Texas driven deal since Tesla is big in Texas which is why Elon Musk moved there. I also think Elon wanted control of a fab and only Samsung...

Samsung to Produce Tesla Chips in $16.5 Billion Multiyear Deal

I do not think Elon Musk and Lip-Bu Tan would be good business partners for this kind of venture. Vey different business styles and personalities. Unless Musk bought Intel outright and mushed it into his xAI conglomeration. It also said the deal was signed before Lip-Bu took over. “Samsung...

Samsung to Produce Tesla Chips in $16.5 Billion Multiyear Deal

TSMC has been making Tesla's chips without problem. The first one was on N7 and the new one is on N4. Samsung made Tesla chips on 14nm and 7nm. Samsung's 5nm had serious yield problems as did 3nm. Samsung in Texas will make 4nm and 2nm chips. It must be a good value proposition for Tesla for...

Why Samsung is losing its top talent to SK Hynix

A rigid hierarchy and risk-averse culture are driving a quiet exodus from Korea's chip giant After a decade overseeing DRAM processes at Samsung Electronics, a 43-year-old engineer known as A accepted a job at SK hynix in 2023. What surprised him most wasn’t the technical work—it was the...

Samsung to Produce Tesla Chips in $16.5 Billion Multiyear Deal

I agree, this is the type of deal that Intel Foundry can do. It is more than just wafer sales, they really are joint development agreements (JDAs). I'm not sure how well Musk will integrate into the Samsung culture when trying to automate their fabs with robots but it will certainly be a...
