? Is Silicon Photonics the Future of in System Data Transfer

From reading this article is looks like silicon photonics may be the future of in system data transfer and between local systems? If so, any thoughts on how long this transition will take and at what node sizes? Could this also become the standard for in data center communications? Any thoughts or comments appreciated.

This is undoubtedly happening now Arthur, the on-going displacement of copper from long-haul down.

Intel have 100Gb/s Si photonics transceivers in volume production, for cloud and data centre applications.
