On CNBC today Apple announced it's working on continuous blood sugar monitoring, perhaps linked to the iPhone or iWatch. With TSMC having the most advanced technology to work with MEMS, sensors, optical devices coupled with advanced packaging and already working with Apple, they would head the list of companies to make this device and a whole suite of medical monitoring and perhaps even bodily function control devices in the future. After automobile semis and devices, this will be the next mega market for semis and related devices. Apple and TSM with their devotion to leading edge tech and secrecy would be a natural fit for taking advanced technology into the medical market with other partners to provide the medical science portion of the equation. If anyone has any information on this, please post. In the past I have posted on Samsung being active in this area. Apple indicated this is just the first of many devices in the medical area. I know they have been working with Kaiser for a while on using Apple for a secure, stable platform.
